CUOCP® Testing & Proctoring Information

This page outlines how the CUOCP® examination is delivered, proctored, and administered to ensure fairness, security, and consistency across all candidates.

All candidates are required to review this information prior to scheduling or taking the examination.

Examination Delivery Model

The CUOCP® examination is delivered through a secure, computer-based testing environment using remote proctoring technology.

Exams are administered under standardized conditions designed to:

  • Protect exam integrity

  • Verify candidate identity

  • Ensure fairness and consistency

  • Prevent unauthorized assistance or misconduct

NACUP maintains separation between examination governance, exam content development, and exam delivery to preserve independence and credibility.

Remote Proctoring Overview

Candidates will complete the CUOCP® examination using remote proctoring.

Remote proctoring allows candidates to test from a private location while being monitored in real time by a trained proctor.

Remote proctoring includes:

  • Identity verification prior to exam start

  • Live audio and video monitoring

  • Screen monitoring

  • Secure exam session recording

Candidates must comply with all proctor instructions throughout the exam session.

Testing Environment Requirements

Candidates are responsible for ensuring their testing environment meets all requirements prior to the exam start time.

Environment requirements include:

  • A quiet, private room

  • Adequate lighting

  • A clear desk or workspace

  • No unauthorized materials present

  • No other individuals in the room

Proctors may require candidates to perform a room scan prior to exam start.

Failure to meet environment requirements may result in delayed start, exam termination, or invalidation of results.

Technical Requirements

Candidates must ensure their equipment and internet connection meet minimum technical standards prior to scheduling the exam.

Typical requirements include:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection

  • Webcam and microphone

  • Compatible operating system and browser

  • Ability to install required proctoring software

Candidates are responsible for performing any required system checks in advance. NACUP is not responsible for exam interruptions caused by candidate equipment, connectivity, or local technical issues.

Identification Verification

All candidates must present valid, government-issued photo identification prior to exam start.

The name on the identification must match the name used during exam registration.

Failure to provide acceptable identification may result in exam denial without refund.

Exam Monitoring and Recording

To protect exam integrity, exam sessions may be monitored and recorded.

Monitoring data may include:

  • Video and audio recordings

  • Screen activity

  • System and technical diagnostics

Monitoring data is used solely for examination administration, integrity review, and compliance with NACUP policies, and is handled in accordance with NACUP’s Privacy Policy and applicable third-party provider policies.

Prohibited Conduct During Testing

During the examination, candidates may not:

  • Use unauthorized materials or devices

  • Receive assistance from any individual

  • Communicate with others

  • Leave the testing area without authorization

  • Attempt to copy, record, or reproduce exam content

Violations may result in exam termination, invalidation of results, or further action under NACUP’s Exam Policies and Terms & Conditions.

Technical Issues and Irregularities

If technical issues occur during the exam, candidates must immediately notify the proctor.

NACUP maintains procedures for reviewing documented technical irregularities related to exam delivery. Reviews are limited to administrative or procedural matters and do not include exam content or scoring challenges.

Scheduling and Rescheduling

Exam scheduling and rescheduling are subject to availability and the policies of the exam delivery provider.

Candidates are responsible for understanding applicable scheduling windows and rescheduling deadlines.
